Default Stupid question about timing

I relocated my battery to my trunk, so when i go to drop my motor in, in a few weeks i was wondering how i was going to check my timing. Would i be able to hook my timing light up to the distribution box under the hood then the negative clamp to the chassis or a good ground? my cables arnt long enough to reach from the trunk to engine bay.

Yes to clean up the engine bay somewhat, weight distribution eh im not to worried about, but i also want to mount my MSD box where the original battery was and keep it out of the heat somewhat.

I detailed a 95 that had this done. They Mounted the box to a piece of diamond plate that covered where the battery tray used to be nicely. Just an Idea, It looked pretty sweet. ID get a pic for ya but who knows where the car is now

Where is the starter soliniod on the 94's? I cant find mine and im beginging to think its in the distribution box. There is a black wire that comes up from the starter that is linked into the wiring harness that goes into the back side of my distribution box. Other than that i cannot find my Starter relay. I will just use the power going to the dist. box. thanks guys
