Default car wont start

i have a 88 5.0 gt and i just got a new battery cause the old one died. well it was starting fine for a couple of hours then i just went to try and start it and the whole car died. All the lights went off then they slowly started to come back on. i checked the terminals and they are good. any ides on what could be wrong. thnx

make sure your cables dont have any corrosion on them bang them on your intake (if it is not polished or chrome that is) and see if any comes off, or if that helps. A little unseen corrosion can cause all sorts of problems.

sounds like either a really bad alternater (the option that makes the most sense) or a bad ground. get the alt checked at an auto parts store

sounds like a bad ground. like previous said. does the car run with out the battery once its is started. if so then the alt. is good.

To test your alternator start your car.After its started remove the negative terminal and it the car stays running the alternator is still in good shape if not you have issues there.
