Default 351 crank and heads on a 302 block

Ok, so I know a few things from time to time, but I always have a question. I know that the heads I have off of a 69 351W, that came form a Mach ! will work on my 302 motor, but the real question conerns the crank out of that motor. I also know that a 351 crank has a 3.5" stroke, as oppossed to the 3" stroke from the 302 crank. what changes will I have to make, to accomodate the 351 crank inside my 302 roller block. Also, without boring the block, but just going with the crank, and 302 connecting rods, what kind of displacement would I be looking at. I am already going to put the heads on the car, since that is a proven HP and torque gain, but since I have the crank, I figured I could do a bit of research on that too.

thanks guys...

Not sure about the heads but I know the max stroke you can run on a 302 is the 3.4 with a .30 overbore is a 347... which is the "safe"limit?

Ok, so i pulled the bottom end of my 5.0 apart tonight, and tried to dry fit the 351 crank. the main journals on the 351 crank were significantly larger then the journals on the 5.0L block, so i will be back to block one in the morning. As far as the 347 goes, that is using a different crank, and connecting rods. You can use a crank, with a larger stroke, but shorter connecting rods, which will keep the pistons at the top, and bottom of their stroke longer, which in turn also increases performance. lx2002, to answer your question, i would love to put a level 20 DSS short block in my car with all of the best, but like many on this forum, and unlike few, i have a very restricted budget, especially with a baby on the way. I am trying to build a budget bowtie buster, with the 88 5.0, and 69 351W i have sitting on stands in my garage. i will tell you this though, the 351 will be going to the machine shop, and with time, and of course money, and lots of both, that motor will be built, with the best. until then, i am trying to put together a solid 350 - 400 HP motor, under $1K. anyways, more to come... hopefully, more input from the members as well...

thanks guys, for the time
