why would it be so stiff?

some clutches are just stiff, and also you have to watch how you route
your new clutch cable if theres any drastic bends in it, it will be hard to
push the pedal in

its also possible that your cable is too close to your exhaust and the cable insulation has melted.

if you can get the car jacked up, straighten out the cable, and open up the covering to the clutch fork. have someone pry it forward with a bar anf see if the pedal moves freely. if it is still tough to move... then your cable is shot
