Those in line pumps knock hard. My friend has an 83 with one and when it's dry it knocks hard until it gets fuel, then it quiets done some.

ORIGINAL: HACKGT350

its a brand new carb and it was check out cause i had bought a new one before thisn one and it was assembled wrong and started a fire in my engine so the mechanic at the speed shop i go to took it apart on the counter with me and we checked it out and it was fine but it seems like im getting way to much fuel my exhaust smells rich as hell but when i go to lean it out my idle gets all messed up and it starts pulsing between rpms and all funky stuff starts happening but i think it might be my fuel pump its not the stock one and i have no idea what my fuel presure is. i dont like the pump before i turn the car over i turn the accesaries on and i can here the pump and it makes like a knocking noise which i hate. my timing is set right i know that for a fact i set it at 28* when the rpm's are at 3,000
Reads like your total timing is a little low, you should be setting it between 34° - 38°. The dizzy might need to be "re-curved". GL
