Default lx ... gt?

what are the differences between lx...gt in the 87-93 models. im just curious because im getting an 87 notch 5.0 5 spd, so would this be a gt or lx?

im still curious now, what does lx stand for? gt? is one better than the other? i know starting in 94 lxs are 6cyl and gts are 8cyl.

the only major differene is the body. the GTs have a body kit on that make them look better, but are also heaver as a result of it.

Both the GT and the factory equiped 5.0 LX have the same drive line and brakes and suspension. When referring to the "notch/trunk model" vs the hatch model you save wieght because the hatch car has extra reinforcing in it for the hatch to bolt to along with the extra weight of the hatch. Then you add the GT(hatch car only) and all the cosmetic ground effects you make the car a little fatter again. The GT is also victim of more wind drag. That is why in 93 on the Cobra model Ford placed a slash cut rear bumber cover on it to get rid of the parachute effect the original GT bumper cover created. In all, a notch back 5.0 Mustang would be the quicker of the three models when you add weight and wind drag into the eqaution.
