Default speedo recalibration

I just got some different gears in my mustang, 3.08's to 3.73's. i also purchased some new rims and tires and i need to get my speedometer recalibrated. should i go to a shop for this? what kind of shop does this and how much do you think it costs? thanks for all your help

For the new gears..you need to get a new speedo gear...(off ebay or somethin...pretty cheap $10-$15) But I dunno bout the different sized wheels.... someone will pop in here eventually though.

you just need to use a calculator for the tire size.

if you have a '95 trans it has a 8t drive gear and you can't correct it w/out changing the drive gear.

if you went w/ a 6t drive gear (it's the one clipped on the output shaft) the 18t driven gear (same one you have now) will work w/ that one.

otherwise you need a 7t drive / 21t driven
or w/ a 8t you have now, you could go w/ a 23t driven but it will still be off about 8% or so. (it will be corrected for 3.55's)

all of this depends if the tire height you have is about 25 1/2" tall.

width / ratio does not matter, nor does rim size.
