Hmm let's see i use 93 octane to stop spark knock and cause it's a high compression motor i've tryed using 87 octane and it's not set to run 87 it's set to run 93 if not it will spark it's just the way it's set i've had it tuned my dad done it when he had the car.
oh ok...it was this part that had me confused....from your sig.......
so i was a bit confused, not trying to bash you.

doesnt happen to everybody, but id put 89 anyways, most of your cars require 87 octane, my other car a 96 ford escort requires 87 octane but i put 89 in it anyways, its all about what you want to get out of the car, IMO the higher octane gas keeps everything cleaner. any 4 cylinder id put 89 octane but 6 or 8 id put 93 but thats just my opinion which everybody has their own.
Yeah i agree i think 93 really work's good with the 5.0.

All higher octane does is make the fuel burn slower to prevent detonation. It has nothing to do with performance in anyway. If you run higher octane then needed your just waisting your money. High octane gas doesn't mean it has any more detergents at all, gas companies normally stick to the federally required detergent and don't add more then they need to. There are some companies like shell, exxon, and mobil who do add more detergents the required but they do it with all octanes, not just high test.

I agree, higher octane slows the fuel burn. Therefore if you have a 9.0 to 1 motor with the stock timing higher octane will be of no bennefit. Rule of thumb for street cars is run what ever octane keeps your car out of detonation. A friend tried 110 race gas in his 5.0 at the track and it lost 2 tenths due to the slower delayed fuel burn. In some cases, more is less. Optimum for any engine is the quickest burn you can get without the harmful detonation. So try to run as low an octane as you can as per the engine timing or the power adder of choice.

Ok I don't get it, my car run just fine whit 87 octane
my compression is at 10:1
timing is at *14 never tried 89,93 should I?
Not all detonation is audible, it might be there and you cannot hear it, in fact in your case I would bet on it.
