What is the most HP anyone has run of a 5.0 stock block and it is still running?

Do you want to know the most horsepower possible or the most horsepower to run safely?

I want to know the most anyone has actually ran without breaking the stock block. My 86 GT made more than 700 HP on the dyno, I know that is too much and I will have to back down the boost. I just want to see what has survived.

I think you need an upgraded block my friend because I honestly wouldnt take it past 550. And thats a HUGE decrease in power! Do you have any kind of support system on it?

I have a girdle, but I don't think that is enough, I have seen pictures of broken blocks with the girdle just kind of keeping the pieces in one place. Yes, I need something else, kind of hate dropping that much HP but, I have lots of money in the parts. I plan to back it down while I decide on how to go, Big Block or after market 5.0 block. Or if someone wants to buy it, I could just start over.

you can never know what's going to happen, one of my buddies blew the engine after 2 years on his stock block wiht just an H/C/I (301rwhp/329rwtq) another buddy of mine has around 450rwhp/4??rwtq (added a few little mods since then though so he might be around 500 now)and he's been driving it for a year now without any issues (except for the tranny wich blew twice but now he has a TKO600) all he has is a girdle and it seems to be holding up just fine... at least for now. 700 is nuts though[] i can't imagine supporting that for too long.

I know I can't stay at this HP. My goal was 600 HP at the crank. We had not been on the dyno until now to know what it was making, (I guess the 6.30 @ 110 in the 1/8th should have been a clue).If you really think about the numbers and assume 18-20% loss for the auto and then assume ~ 100HP to turn the SC, then the engine is producing ~ 800HP.

wow pushing it is an understatement how long did you have it running where it was before? anymore wheel stands good luck with that ang... i think you're going to need it

Tranny has been broke since the "wheel stand" just got it back in Saturday and went to the dyno. The previous trip to the dyno only showed 450RWHP because the tranny was slipping. It has about 15 passes at this HP level. I am trying to decide which to do, remove SC or try to find different cog pulley to reduce boost.

Im guessing that you are running a 347? What blower are you running at how much boost?

It really sucks to have that much power and not even be able to put it to use. I would upgrade to another block or do like you said... get a big block
