Oil Starvation ..Newb Question

Sorry for the newb question but I have to ask. Are sn95 5.0L engines known for oil starvation? My bro owned an SVT contour and those things were know for oil starvation so he had to put in 6.5 quarts of oil every oil change to prevent the starvation that later would lead to an engine knock. So do 5.0L have oil starvation? How many quarts do you guys/gals use? My car is in storage now but just prepping my self for the summer time. Thanks for the input and sorry for the newb question.

I normally do my oil around every 2,500 miles and i have no problems... If i wait till 3,000 im normally 1/2 qt low..
