being that you have an 84, you are in the slightly older engine era that ran a flat tappet cam, so make sure you dont go buy a roller cam...i got this off of a 5.0 mag entry.

"But that limits you to less-aggressive profiles because of the ramp rates [of a flat-tappet grind]." George says if you want to use a hydraulic-roller cam, you can use stock 5.0 roller lifters as long as you run a small-base-circle cam (also known as a retrofit cam), available through a variety of cam manufacturers.

ok thats awsome thanks for the help everyone i think im getting the intake manifold in the next month i need to start getting more hours at work so i really dont have the money yet im also putting in an electric fan since my belt driven one is shot the clutch went and it spins constantly once i get the intake ill be able to get rid of the smog pump which ironicly i just replace in september cause it froze and broke my belt about 45 min from home so i had no chance of getting home and had no idea what had happend. so i will probably sell the pump on ebay since it only has about 1000 miles on it if that and getting rid of my ac will help with more power it doesnt work anyway so might as well get rid of it

did you put that hood on there, or is that how it came¿ ive been wanting to change my hood, and the only options ive seen were for the cowls, and while i got nothing against them, i would rather go with a functioning scoop

i bought the car like that the hood is stock but the hood scoop was added and the owner before me actualy cut out the hole to make it functional haha. i have the 13" ford racing crome air cleaner under it so when water gets in the hood it only gets on top of the air cleaner and evaporates from the engine heat. it did have the enclosed air box and i was like wow cut the hole and keep the air box someone is retarded. it looks really nice but im concerned about the clearence with the new intake so i might have to put a cowl hood on anyway

thanks for the info. i have the same ford racing air cleaner, switched to that a couple years ago because the original dual snorkle didnt have the attachments so it was already sucking in the hot engine air and it was old and ratty looking. i wish i would have just kept the stock one, cleaned it up and made it work right
