RE: new heads
yeah I would recommend AFR also. They did the best in mm&ff. Also a good cam would be the Trickflow stage 1 cam. If you dont go with the afr then go with the twisted wedge heads also with the trickflow stage 1 cam.

RE: new heads
AFR aluminuns and in the least the 185 cc intake runner heads. They are not overkill on a 302/306 and you will have room to grow power wise down the road if you cube up or get radical with the beast. AFR got 455HP out of the 185 cc heads @6100 RPM using the Comp Ex 282 Hyd roller cam on a carbed pump gas 306 so you would have quite a weapon if your ride is 5sd equiped.

RE: new heads
As for the AFR heads, I installed a set of 185's on a 306 with E303 cam(needed a cam I knew would pass smog test) Cobra intake and degreed the cam in 4 degrees advance. On a chassis dyno DaSilva's racing in Toronto Ont. Canada. The car laid down a very flat torque curve with 306 FT lbs to the tires and 296 HP to the tires without the BBK cold air fender well kit or underdrives as these were still on order. Both the 165 and 185 heads make the same power down low with the 185's taking over at 5000 rpm. This little mill has a very flat torque curve. Just 15 ft lbs shy of 300 at 2000 rpm and holding 391 ft lbs at 6100 rpm. This would be one stout 302 for street duty in a 5 spd Mustang and with a 150 hit of the spray it would more than likely run solidly in the 10's in the 1/4 mile.

RE: new heads
Do a Google search on Air Flow Research Inc. Then on the home page click on dyno results on the top of the page. You will see that the 185 heads make great down low power on a 302 and have a very flat torque curve with awsome power. They are not TOO big for a 302. They can be if you choose the wrong set up for the car. This motor is great for a stick car but an auto run on the street, maybe not.

RE: new heads
thats great cause i have a 5 spd. what intake manifold should i got with i want to be a street driver and occationaly go to the track to see what i can do but i dont need anything crazy like the victors or victor jr. i have heard the edlebrock air gaps work wonders but i dont know if thats enough with the heads and cam.
