Default top or bottom?

hey guys, I am an idiot so dont treat me like one PLEASE.
I have an 88 lx hatch. 4 cyl car w/5.0 swap. from the back fwd I have a 8.8w/4.10( or 4.11's as I said I'm an idiot, actually the guy before me made that swap) 190lph pump, off road x pipe dual chamber flowmasters, BBk shories. Edelbock performer EFI intake, "B" cam, stock heads and a paxton s/c with 6 psi boost. And a stock AOD tranny. with this set up I run mid 12's at Bristol in the 1/4.
Now heres my problem, I spun a bearing and trashed my crank and one rod. I have a $2,000. budget so should I build a 347 or shoud I buy a short block from my friend for $200. and re-ring it( it was rebuilt 200 miles ago but he says for some reason the rings just didnt seat?) If I go with the short block I can get a set of Edelbrock performer heads. I would like to break into the 10's. What do you think?

First thing I'd like to know is what model of Paxton you are running. If it's a Novi 1000, then there is something we can work with. No matter what, you're going to need new heads . And with what you're starting with, you won't be going 10s for $2k more. I think you could do it for $3k-3500 though (if it's a Novi 1000). If you could settle for maybe a sub-11.50, then I think it can be done for $2k using your friends shortblock.

Concur, I don't think 2K would build a truly good 347.....
