hunting & surging?
I own a 92 GT with these mods: ported Explorer upper & lower, 65mm mass air, shaved & ported GT40P heads (compressions about 10 to 1), E303 cam, 24 lb injectors, 190 lph fuel pump, shorty headers, no cats, mac exhaust, tremec 3550 & stock ignition (timings at 14). when I come to a stop, the cart pulls this "hunting & surging" crap, revs up, then down, up then down until it falls on its face & stalls out. Any suggestions on how to fix this???

take apart the whole throttle body assembly and clean it out. if you have u/d pulleys then you need a bigger alternator cuase they pull from it, and you should probably lower your timing to 12. also check all of your vaccumes.

I have barely any miles on the throttle body, so its not dirty at all. I also have a 140 alternator & underdrives. As for vacuums, with the explorer intake I'm using, some don't get used, so I plugged the rest off.I also tried cleaning the mass air flow sensor already.....no help. I got new o2 sensors too. I've read other posts & it seems everyone who replies about this problem says check the idle air control & MAP sensor. Wouldn't the car throw a "check engine" light if these sensors went bad??? I tried messing with the timing for a good amout fo time, 12 seemed weak. Its at 14 now & pulls real nice. I've never heard about drilling the butterfly hole bigger, but maybe its worth a try. Thanks.
