Default mass air intake on a speed density?

Can I put an intake from an 89 mass air on my 86 speed density? I was thinking about just scrapping the mass air for now and just using it as a speed density. Will this work?

thanks

no other issues? I have never seen its location, is it just in the intake tube or closer to the TB?

Mac makes a fenderwell kit for 86-88 that cost about $120 at most places.

yea, you can get it from 50resto.com well i see it in their catalog, not on the site but i wasnt really looking. if you dont have the money go with the speed density CAI from MAC but if you have the money convert it to MAF, get the chip it costs $400 then get a BBK CAI.
