Default Cold Air Intake

How important is the Mass air flow sensor and if I throw in a simple cold air intake do I have to or should I by pass the MAF sensor?
I have a 1995 GT 5.0.

Thanks in advance

not true about it running like crap, if you start doing alot of mods, then yes you want the maf, because it measures the air going in and tells how much fuel is needed, i wouldnt get rid of it period, its good. i have an 88 gt, i want to do the conversion but i dont want to screw something up. IMO dont get rid of the maf.

Figure this, you can run a speed density car without a maf just fine. When you have a mass air car to begin with, you can't just take off the maf and expect it to run speed density. Your computer has to be looking for the signal from your maf to do all that stuff, and it isn't there; so it runs like ****. I think the term is "closed" loop, which ever one runs on preset fuel/air/timing bs. It could be "open" I can't remember, but in any case, it's not a place you want to be in constantly.

You do not need to recalibrate it for a CAI. And DO NOT get rid of your Mass Air.

You can add the CAI and be just fine. KEEP YOUR MAF!!!

If you want to upgrade it (which will make better use of your CAI), then check out C&L (73/76mm) or Pro-m (now PMAS, 75mm).
