Default Tire size

What is the largest tire you can fit on the rear end of an 87-93 stang before you have to mod the rearend? I have a set of Weld skinnies for the front (15x3.5), and I need to get the order in for the rear tires soon, I was thinking 15x10, but a friend told me 10s wont fit, that I need 9.5s. Thanks as always for all the help you guys provide. =)

Do you have quad shocks? If you get aftermarket U/L control arms (jdsperformance.com or UPR=$169), you can get rid of them and have a little more clearance. I'm running 265/55R16's on 16x7 Pony rims w/ no problems.

I know your welds will hold a wider tire, but maybe that helps a little.

You can get a 15x10 6.5bs with a 28x12.50 ET Street on the back if you roll the fender lip and massage the inner fenderwell. You can fit a 28x11.50 ET Street much easier though.

not very many people would run a 28" tire anyway.

truth be told. you dont need the quad shocks. with a good set of upper and lower control arms, the quad shocks can be removed.

you CAN fit 15x10 wheels and the BEST tire size would be a 26x11.5r15

considering stock tire size is an overall diameter of 25.6"... a 26" tire fits alot better then a 28"

It does fit much better with a 26". I was just trying to list the biggest myself and my friends run on our street cars. I prefer a larger tire and lower gear over smaller tire and higher gear for more contact patch and a larger rollout. But that is not a concern to a majority of people.
