Default harmonic balancer and timing chain

In an earlier post you guys told me to get a new timing chain when i put on my new heads. Should i just get a stock replacement or is there some better brand to use. All i need is the chain right? why? And my balancer is loose so will just any balancer work to replace it? Internal/external too right? Would my setup benefit alot more from the $200 one compared to the $70 dollar one? I know its alot of questions but i gotta get it right.

Get to Ford dealer and get Ford Racing timing set, 2 sprockets and 1 chain. You could also get one from Summitt.
Sounds like it is balancer time too. Ford Racing for this one. Go to dealer, tell parts people what you need, they order, you pay.
That simple.......

I just bought a CAT brand fluid damper for my 347 build for $110 + shipping on eBay. You're going to want to get a 50oz imbalance damper for your engine. I've heard good things about Cloyes timing chain sets, too which is what I'll probably get for my build also.

Cloyes is very good but over-priced IMHO.
Roll masters from down under is real nice too but pricey.
Last year I got a Comps Cams brand set for the 390 in my Ranchero and it was the double -roller with 4 adv and 4 retard type thing and it was only about $55 or so. Good deal I thought. It degreed right in too....

Not sure where you're located, but O'reilly's auto has cloyes double roller sets for under $50. (oreillyauto.com). Also, I got Professional Products balancer from 50resto.com for $79 w/ the spacer. I like it better than stock.
