MY car was ideling and then it shut off.... I could smell something like a electrical burn under the hood. Cant see anything at all that would have buned up. Please help..... Ignition modulator maybe? Coil? its a 1990 hatch 5.0 with a MSD 6a with a MSD coil, and a MSD distributor....thanks Eric

Yo "E" I had that one time.....turns out the coil wire fell and lay against the header. I had just put in a new coil that day. I guess because I messed around with the wires, I moved them around. I replaced the ignition module, the whole distributor, another coil, tps, and cap and rotor......all for nothing...I kept over looking the wires not thinking burned wire could be the problem. I drove home, left the car idling in the driveway and when I came out, it wasnt running. I couldnt get it started(header burned though the outer jacket of the coil wire). I couldnt believe it.....the car was down for two weeks!! I was determined to fix it myself. Funny thing was, that coil wire actually killed the car one time before, and the car had to get towed to a shop. At the shop, it just started up no problem. A week later, Mr. Knowitall(me) f'ed up the wires.....givin my car a so called tune up. lol Some tune up huh? Good luck!!

Thanks I checked all wires, I unpluged the ignition module harness and i could smell a electrical burn, I am going to replace the ignition modulator and see what happens....thanks ERic
