Default trick to pulling out radio?

i am in the process of changing my carpet. got everything out except i cant get the console out with out removing the shifter out of the top of the tranny. unless i remove the stock radio. i cant get it out. my chilton manual say i need 2 special radio removal tools. is there any other option that you guys know of? thanks.

cut a metal hanger into a v shape 1 for each side, push them in and pull radio out.

Why do you need the tools? Metal coat hanger worked on my 88, and my super coupe I used to owned.

Why do you need the tools? Metal coat hanger worked on my 88, and my super coupe I used to owned.

you were right, i called advanced auto parts, and they have the tools, 3.99 for a pair. not worth messing around with a coat hanger for that price. also, i dont think we even have any metal hangers any more in the house. thanks for the input.
