Brake upgrades
Hi Guys,
I know that everyone loves power this power that...How much horsepower can you get out of this or that. BUT, how about stopping all that horsepower? Do you guys suggest any brake upgrades? We all know that the brakes sucks on Fox Body's, at least from what I heard, and have experienced. What is a good upgrade say for a daily driven car/race once ina while? Please make suggestions, I think I'm going to work on my stopping power first so some suggestions would be nice.
Thanks!

RE: Brake upgrades
How much money are you looking at spending? How serious do you plan on modding?
You can buy powerslot rotors, the 73mm lincoln calipers with a METAL piston, stainless caliper bushings, stainless lines, and some high quality pads, and it will be a very significant change in braking.

RE: Brake upgrades
stainless steel brakes at www.ssbrakes.com have a good rear disk conversion that is a bolt on replacement with everything you need.

RE: Brake upgrades
You can see if Hawk or anyone makes better shoes for a drum.... I haven't ever really looked for performance drum shoes.
Upgrading your front pads and/or rotors will help a lot since most of your stopping is done w/ the front anyway.

RE: Brake upgrades
there are a couple ways to do it. first off, we will tacke rears
1.) maximum motorports sells performance shoes if you want to stay drum
2.) the drum to disk is pretty envolved. the ways to do it are either buy a kit (expensive) or build a kit (inexpensive). pm me if you want list of what you will need to build the kit. keep in ind you will need to replace the master cylinder if going to rear discs and you will most likely be swapping rear axles (unless buying a 4 lug kit).
fronts
1.) powerslot rotors, hawk pads, braided lines. decent improvement, cheap price.
2.) 73mm calipers (relatively cheap and easy to do, better impreovement)
3.) brake kit w/ stock spindles (most expensive, great improvement)
4.) brake kit with sn95 spindles (fairly expensive (less than w/ fox spindles), great improvement in braking with better handling and 5 lug conversion as well.
