306 shortblock

trickflow advertisement says 350 horspower with 306 flattop shortblock. what does it mean by flattop and is their a difference in hp between a regular 302 and a 306 flattop?

some pistons are dome and some are flattop the flattop are flat on the top duh, dome are when they are when the top of piston is sticking out for better compression. they also have dished pistons those are opposite of dome.

difference between 302 and 306 is .030 of cylinder bore.
Most likely the block has been used and it was bored .030 to cleanup the cylinder walls.

There can be somewhat more HP than that in a flat-top 306 with TW heads.
Use the right camshaft, valvetrain, put some work into the heads and carb it.
