Default alternator upgrade

Hey guys just a quik question--I'm going from a 75 amp alt. to a 130 amp alt. Do I need to worry about whether my stock wiring can handle the higher amps or not? Also if anyone knows where I can get a good deal on a shifter for my auto 88 stang could you please steer me in the right direction. I'd very much appreciate it!! Thanxs

Depending on whether it's a 3g or not, you may need an adapter to wire it up. As for your current wiring, it should be fine w/ the 130.

youll need a larger wire to run from the alt to handle the extra power (assuming its a 3g). all other wires will be fine

Not necessarily true. Mine has been wired for 2 years w/ the factory harness w/o any issues. I know a few other ppl w/ the same and w/o issues as well.

my powermasters alternator came with a larger wire that i had to run to the battery

i had to do a little other wiring from the stock connector to the new alternator. other than that it was cake.

Why do u want a bigger amp? Stereo? Just curious.

Seems like a waste of money and stress for just an Alt.

Because I have under drive pulleys,a pretty powerful 1200watt stereo system and other accessories that take alot of juice. Plus I want to get an electric fan when I get a chance.
