RE: What does the 5.0 mean
FYI 5.0 is a lie, it's really a 4.9L in stock trim. Check out the older V8 explorers, window sticker shows a 4.9. Punch it out to 306 cid and it's a true 5.0 (bored .030" over).

the 300 I-6 was called a 4.9 by some people
and to the guy who started this...a quick calculation is that there are (on average) 61 cubic inches per liter, you can also figure out the liters from the cubic inches...just divide
302 divided by 5.0 is 60.4
300 divided by 4.9 is 61.22
7.0 multiplied by 61 is 427 (in LeMans, the GT-40 could not be named by the actual cubic inches because of all the metric bull**** in europe so it was designated "7 Liter"...just a little "i bet u didnt know")
5.8 multiplied by 61 is 353 (in Ford terms--5.8 = 351--another bit of "i bet u didnt know", Ford named the 351 "5.8 L" when they swithced to fuel injection to make it sound more menacing and more powerful than chevy's 5.7 aka the 350)
hopefully you get it by now

Actually it's a 4.95 liter, omg .05 of a liter lol. They rounded it up so we just call it a 5.0, it wouldn't sound right if you were like,"I own a 4.95 liter".
