Default manifold deal?

I met this guy through Horse Power Junkies that is selling a gt-40 lower and upper manifold with spacer for $475. it is used, but pics look pretty clean. I know I can get a new one for around $650 and his orig. price was $550, so i did talk him down, but does this look like a good deal?

I know the gt-40's are well known, if not the best manifold kit out there for the 5.0, but on an all stock motor except for full exaust and cold air, what would I be expecting out of performance?

I would dish out the extra $75 dollars and get an Edelbrock RPM II....BRAND NEW.

yeah but from what i'v heard, the gt40 is the best out there? most expensive anyway. if u think about it. between trick flow, edlebrock and ford racing, it's prob all about the same. just competition to see who can sell the most and who has the best reputation.

actually the gt-40 is the least flowing of the ones you mentioned. they are very pretty though. i would get a trickflow out flows the heck out of the gt-40 and is cheaper brand new than that used one.

Well, you heard wrong The GT-40 manifold is far from the best intake. It really depends on your combination though. I would do some research and see what you come up with. There are TONS of articles on manifold comparison tests. Here is the first one that I found and the GT-40 got pooped on from every manifold (Holly, TrickFlow, RPM, Victor).

The GT-40 might not be a bad idea now considering you have a 99% stock motor but if you plan on any future mods the GT-40 would not be to your benefit. Just do some research and see what you come up with.

The GT-40 is a good intake, but it's not new technology....same w/ the letter cams. I'd go with TFS Track Heat. You can get it new for $450 or less. I'd also upgrade the intake side of your engine. Get a larger MAF and CAI at least, that will make a noticeable difference in power w/ whatever intake you decide to get.
