Default Differential question

I've got my new rearend just about ready to be all rebuilt...when i bought it the previous owner suggested replacing the clutch packs!!..from what i understand this part is called T-lok and makes both tires grab instead of one...what are my option in replacing this part...i've seen different things...i have stock axles and just bought new gears!

Let me know if there is a site i can go to, to learn more about how the rearends actually work...also....would getting a replacement T-lock from ford be worth it?..

yeah it's called a traction lok. the only options are really gettin a rebuilt kit, jus consists of new clutches. if you don't realy wanna replace it you can look how bad it is and decide whether you want to replace it. its just a series of clutches which is a cheap but realitivly effective way of limited slip, it allows the wheels to move freely around a corner and not hop like a locker. not the best description ever but i did my best haha.

razarr, not bad. dont know if i can help more, but ill try. when yo take out the rearend and do anything to it, you should get an install kit too. i put in a new auburn setup, and busted a shim, and didnt have the kit. had to find one at a dealership, and that took 2 weeks to find. replace the bearings, and i would recommend replacing the axle bearings and seals too. not too expensive, and its extra insurance. ya, the trac-lok is fords version of the limited slip. my auburn ran about 400$ for my 7.5" rear. but its a cone type diff. the clutchpacks are alright. and i would replace the packs just for the insurance of not opening the diff back up again. DONT FORGET TO ADD FRICTION MODIFIER WHEN YOU PUT IN THE GEAR FLUID!!! know a few people who have done it, and its not a pretty thing to do, unless you catch it quick.
