RE: best overall way to spend 3k
160 is a replacement speedo.
140 is stock for '89 1/2 up, and 85 for older than '89 1/2
after owning 5 different 5.0's w/ totally different combos, i would suggest this.
heads for sure, stock cam isn't bad, and idles well.
get a set of '93 cobra heads, not p's..real 40's
have the exhaust ports cleaned up reall well..not a huge port job though, cuz you lose air velocity.
leave the intake ports alone, and you might want to deck them about 10 thousanths.
then do a cobra intake also(not explorer), leave it alone for now. no port work needed.
do a 65 tb, and whatever maf you get is fine 73-76 is more than enough.
190 pump and stock inj are ok, but look to up to 24's and a msd.
port match the intake to the heads, cuz there is a big step there, acts like a brick wall to the air.
depending on gear in the car , i would go around 3.73-4.10 (i like 4.10's)
you already have the lowering springs, so i would add to that and do the energy suspension poly kit all around.
also the kyb shocks all around. not the expensive ones, just the cheaper ones.
do a set of mega bite jr lca's and that will make a really well rounded out combo. it'll handle like a vette and run in the 12.80 range and spank it as well.
total cost ?
heads= $300
port work = $ 300 w/ the decking
intake = $300
$100 for the inatke port match
gears installed = $450
cheater slicks=$300
mega bites= $280
energy susp kit= ?? i think about $200
tb= $200
maf= $200
inj = $200
msd= $200
kyb's = ? no idea gonna guess $300
------------------------------------------------
total = $3330
but there is some you can save.......i figure used on the heads and intake and new on everything else.
