Low_5.0

Ok...ive been reading so many post that say the stock heads on the 5.0 are HOrrible....how bad are they?.....would this be something that i should upgrade first instead of a Cam??

Yes because i don't care what anybody says...a aftermarket cam with stock heads are worthless...And they are pretty terrible ecspecailly on the exhaust side..

think about it this way put ur hands around ur neck and squeeze thats what stock heads do to a mustang. and like someone else said putting a cam in a pretty much stock mustang isn't going to do very much except for sound. i would put my money esle where

Here's a good way to look at it

Stock 5.0 .... axp. 225 hp

Ford sells crate engine listed at ........ 345hp

basically same engine with just high flow heads and
more aggressive cam, intake and throttle body.


The stock heads and intake and small throttle body
are horrible breathers.
Stocker headers not much better either.


You can get good gains from better cylind heads.
but you need to upgrade the the intake manifold and throttle body with it.

actually the 5.0 cam is great that should be last and you will see the biggest hp gains from replacing the heads, they are
very restrictive and you wont see the gains from your other upgrades until the heads are changed.

car craft put AFR 165 heads with 1.7 rockers with the stock cam on a carb'd 5.0, stock bottom end, and picked up 100hp.

^^ I believe that. AFR's are the sh*t man! Get some used 165's.
