Default Friction modifier

Just did a rear-end gear change. Debating with my local mechanic on using friction modifier. I've read with the traction lock it's a must. He disagrees. What do you guys say?

It allows the clutches to slip around corners. It'll bite better without it but wear out the clutches faster.

Thanks 86HOGT. BTW, nice looking car. Came across my 86 by happenstance, sitting in a lawyers garage with 56k on it. Sure having fun with the old 4 eye.
