I appreciate the tips. I ended up by the stock replacement t-stat instead of the 180 degree one simply because the shop would have had to order it and I wanted to get it done now.
I guess the next easy thing to do is to simply replace the radiator cap then.
The fan seems to be working fine, in fact, I have been leaving the switch in the "on" position the last few days and running it constantly.
I am not sure about the moldings, I will have to look into that. I had a friend at a shop take it in and check for leaks and they didn't find any. I just topped off the coolant the other night and it didn't require very much at all, about what I would expect.
I was asking about the guage because even though the car is constantly running on "H," I haven't had any problems with overheating yet or noticed any differences in the way it drives. It still always starts right up.
I have also tried the old "turn on your heater trick" and even with the heater on full blast, it makes no difference on the guage reading in the car
