Default Gear oil w/friction modifier...premixed?

A month ago, I got my diff oil changed at my usual shop. The guy there seems knowledgeable on Mustangs, as he an his wife both drove GTs for a while. At the time of the diff service, I reminded him not to forget the friction modifier, to which he replied, "the stuff we use comes premixed with friction modifier in it...so that no one will forget to put it in." I believed him, and didn't give it another thought until seeing 86ragtop's post regarding f-modifier. My question: Is there a really a gear oil with friction modifier already added to it, or was he butt-talkin'?

Kendall Special Limited-Slip Axle Lubricant is an API GL-5, SAE 80W-90 automotive gear
lubricant fully formulated limited-slip gear oil for limited slip and positraction axles. Kendall Special
Limited-Slip Gear Lube is formulated with a special oil soluble friction modifier to help eliminate the
stick-slip chatter associated with low speed, high torque operation of limited-slip mechanisms while
turning corners with some passenger cars and light trucks.

Looks like it's a yes. Depending what kind he uses. You could always inquire, and then do a search on it.

Thanks, Pro50. I feel better. I just may ask my mechanic what type of oil he used. Thanks again.

Not a problem. I'm sure he won't have a problem telling you what type he used. After all, it is your car and you have a right to know.

Good luck!

Mobil 1 does, in fact most synthetics do already have friction modifiers. It's somewhat of a pain finding them that don't. Redline 75w90NS doesn't have the modifiers, but their other gear oils do.
