Default New just got me a 5.0 need adice

Ok ive always wanted a 5.0 gt and i finally got one 500 bucks cant beat that, but the motor needs gone threw and i wanna build it right, iam looking to produce 500-600hp with it, the only thing iam worried about is what pistons to get ones that can handle forced induction like a supercharger and maybe a little notroius, any adivce or websites for parts i should look at, you guys probley get these Qs allot. thanks

yes you need forged pistons if ur gonna run over 10 pounds of boost but some mustangs came with forged pistons stock.....

Anything before 93 had fordged pistons. Ford began using hypereutectic in 93.

Oh yeah if you will probably want to look into the Motorsport A4 or R4, whatever it is now, block. It will be pretty hard to get 600hp out of an old 2 bolt main stock block... the A/R4 is like $4000 or was, wut it is aluminum and has 4 bolt mains. You could do anything you want wilth that block... If you cant go that route you will have to bore and stroke your current block to 331 or 347, add a main girddle and bolt on a supercharger, turbo or a big shot of nitrous. Of course you would have to have all fordged internals... maybe even billet rods... the right head/intake/cam combo. 500 to 600 is defiantly possible, but will be very$$$$$$. You also will have to build up the chasis and drive train to handle it... The stock T5 wont cut it... maybe a Tremec 3550 or performance auto. You have to plan all your purchases around hitting the 500-600hp mark.

ya everything has to work with each other and be able to handle the power so its gonna be pricey

Well this is my plan, i wanted to put the normal upgrades intake, exhaust ,etc and a powerdyne super, maybe like 75 or 100 shot of nitroius, some rousch heads a , tremec the HD model in jegs that handles 600ft-lbs and all the other parts to support these modifacations, i just dont want to blow pistons and be strandied at the track

I would add the supercharger and nitrous last... You really have to build your block right to do what you have planed... I would go in and talk to a race shop around you about what you are looking to do and get their sugestions. It might just be easier to save and buy a prebuilt short block thats built for what you want... mean while you can add all the other things to your car now and when you are ready transfer them to the short block. Anything you want to add beside the super and the nitrous wont really blow your pistions or hurt the block. Some times patience is the only way to go.

how are the kieth black 281 pistons, could they hold up to rousch heads and a powerdyne super the 6psi version, and the other things like headers,cam and such
