identifying my 5.0
Ok, I,m new to this site. I need a little help as far as finding out some information about my mustang. First of all it is a 1983 "fox body" GT 5.0 HO 4v with "T" tops. The strange thing is that it has a 4 speed trans. A trans specialist that i spoke with stated that it is an "SROD" transmission ant that it was a rare model. They offered that the trans was primarily used in the Highway Patroll edition. Further more, I also have a rather rare carburetor on the vehicle too! It was a made by Holley for Motorcraft unit. What was wierd is that the carb uses all four barrels to idle the engine... That is it has "4" actual air/fuel adjuster screws, one for each barrel of the carb. I was also informed that the carb. on my car is extreemely rare.
I need to see if there is a way to find out if the car that I have is one of those, "accidentally sold to some lucy individual." highway patroll edition. That and how to get the right info. for my car since it seems that there is not a lot of acurate info out there about the early fox body mustangs.
Please help if you can.

RE: identifying my 5.0
I am guessing that if its a t-top car, it wasn't a special service (police package) Mustang. For all the right info, check out the 1982-1993 Mustang GT Registry, www.mustanggt.org. While you are there, register your car. Also, I am pretty sure that the 4spds. were in the early build date Mustangs and then the T5's came in halfway thru the year. Good luck with your car. Justin

RE: identifying my 5.0
the 4 barrell carb is the same one from 1983 until 1985, and they liked to set themselves on fire.
The SROD was the V8 tranny from 1979 until the introduction of the T5 during the 1983 model year. The bellhousing is wanted since a Tremic 3550 will bolt up to it. You have nothing rare
