Default cam question?

Ok well I dont understand the whole cam thing just basic ****. But what i was wondering was if i take comp cams 282HR cam specs which are 282 - 286 advertised duration, 232 - 240 @.050, .565 - .574 lift and 112 lobe seperation angle. What if i was to take those numbers and just change the 112 lobe seperation angle to 110. What effect besides a more lopey idle would this do? Like effect performance or what not? Any help would be great! Thanks.

It's been a while, so I could be wrong...but if I remember correctly, you should stay at or higher than 112-114 LOS if you want any kind of driveability. If it's not a daily, then go for it.

In my former racer, poered by a 440 Dodge, 108-110 lobe center is where it would best.
This car was a 'race only' type with a 4500 converter etc. Very rough idle too.
Not real sure but I think that stroke of the engine (3.75" in this case) has something to do with L.C.

I personally like the cams with lower lobe seperation. they seem to have the pop corn popping effect (sound ) really fast pop.
The larger lobe seperation is more of a whompty.... whompty.... whompty sound if you understand what i am saying

By lower do you mean 110 instead of 112? Also does that cam spec that i stated above sound like a good strip setup/boarderline street setup? Thats what i am going for something that is boarderline streetable!

if you get to crazy like that too you get both valves opening at the same time, then your fuel blows out your exhaust and you are reducing HP and spending more money.

Yea you are right. Its just that my uncle has that comp cam with the lobe at 112 and he is running a 306 and its mean as hell. I mean it pulls very very hard lots of power and it sounds pretty nasty at idle but even he said he wish it was a little more lopey so thats where i thought about changing the lobe from 112 to 110 that should make it perfect. He is running the old style torker manifold with a demon 650 carb and twisted wedge heads. Now i am gonna be running probably a 750 demon carb with a RPM AirGap manifold and dart pro 1 aluminum heads. I dont know if my setup will be good or should i change anything?
