Default Rapid RPM drop from steering

Anyone else have problems when you move your steering wheel all the way to one side, when driving slow, like about to park, or back out of a driveway; and suddenly your RPMS drop and you stall out? I usually give it a little gas right when i cense my engine about to cut off so it doesnt stall out. I have a 1994 gt 5.0 if that helps. I was told that your power steering fluid is in need of changing if that happens, but im not too sure. Just wanna make sure before i spend money on some fluid. Thanks

Well, you really shouldn't hold the wheel so far over when turning that it wants to stall the motor. Not good for the p/s pump..

No for some reason the 94 of my friends and my 95 both GT do the same thing and it's not while turning it all the way and holding it. It's just turning it. There is a fix for it just can't remember where.

^^ I had the same problem with my 88GT. You shouldnt hold it because it burns the pump. Also, if you need a new pump let me know. I have a BRAND NEW pump that I need to get rid off but Im not sure if it will fit your 94. Let me know. I installed it and started the car twice (never drove it) adn than took it off.

88 your pump will fit his car fine i had one pulled off a 95 for my 84 and it fit fine just needed to swap the pully and the bracket. mine did that but it was because i had a massive vaccum leak and any stress like that on my motor would kill it. but def check the fluid could just be low or you need to replace it

Almost all new cars now have a switch that once the wheel is turned all the way at idle it will bump idle to prevent stalling. And that isn't good on the pump also, it stresses it out.
