Got My V Springs

Hey I got my Valve Springs today, Comp Cams 942-16. Now these have a dampner in it them. What is it for and does anyone have these on their stang. I got these to match to my B303.

The dampner is just a little extra spring to help strenghten the outter for more lift capabilties.
