Default Cheap Ported Heads=12 sec. stang

Alright....so I was lookin around last night on the internet (on some other forums) and came across a H/C/I thread...so I took a look. Someone recommended a guy from a site that rebuilds/ports stock heads(E7s) to be really bad ***... Does anyone here know anything/have any experience w/ all this? I mean..I know buying aftermarket heads may be 'best'...but this guy is a lot cheaper..and has 'proof' of how well his heads work. his site is www.thumperoforangepark.com I think... Any have any input on this? Would it be a nice way to beef up the stock heads and make a pretty nice low 12 seconds 'stang?? Thanks!!!

i have, and yes, porting stockers can work well... i know a guy who ran 12.71 with literally a few hundred into the motor.. he ported his heads himself, and had them decked, then he put in a cam, ported his intake himself, and honed out his TB himself, then put in some 4:10s and slapped on slicks... thats it.

Seems like you could get a good set of used aluminum heads for just about the same price, or maybe $200 or so more.

i had thumper go over some junk yard gt40's that i got a few months back, and let me tell yeah... when they came they looked like great. the ports are beautiful and the bowl work looks great. i cant wait to finish my engine so i can see how they run. i would recommend him if your looking into ported heads. sh*t he's got a combo on his site that is a proven 12 sec combo for about $1000 bucks, cant beat that!

^^ I agree... IMO its not worth it to try to make stock heads "bad ***". I would just pick up a set of AFR 165's (or 185's) and be done with it. Better performance than any stock head could offer and shave off 50 lbs.

^^ I must admit... the numbers are very impressive for stock heads. BUT for the price; Like I said before, you will still have better flowing heads and ALOT less weight. Its worth the extra 200 along for the shaving off of 50lbs on your front end IMO.

If you are on a budget than def thats the way to go but if not than I would just wait and save up some extra cash and get a set of AFR's.
