new to forums, just got a fox
whats up guys im picking up an 87 lx 5.0 tomorrow as a trade for my 90 integra, i figured i'd go ahead and register and start learning what i need to be doing for the stang. i've always been an import guy in the past, but realizing that i can make 3x the horsepower for the same money is luring me to domestics haha...
so anyway like i said 87 lx 5.0 grey with red interior, it has a bbk intake, x-pipe with turndowns, 4 speed auto with overdrive, 3.73 gear, and a b&m shift kit. im gonna start with some subframe connectors and maybe control arms just til i get used to driving a rwd v8 car (is this what they call "torque"?), but she should be cammed with new heads and on the hose b4 too long.
also have a lil turbo civic coupe i'm driving, sohc 1.6 VTEC stock internals dynoed 196hp/185tq to the wheels on 12psi. she only weighs 2100lb though. best i ever got at the track on it was a 9.5@73mph though, that was b4 i got the new clutch in it and on the old 1.5L block/1.6L head combo. if anybody is interested more pics here http://southeastdrift.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2939

(i started off with a '93 civic lx). again, welcome. if you need any help, this is the place.

Welcome! Seems to me like you are going to be doing some good mods. You should get a converter for that car! Make a nice difference. And if its not your DD I would ditch them 3.73's for 4.10's Congradulations and Welcome!

hey whats up bro, congrats on the stang. (i'd say congrats for waking up, but you still have the rice...and it's all good)
anyways, i wouldn't worry too much about the lca's yet.
or the subframe connectors, w/ the aod you need more gear and higher stall more than you realize.
assuming you are building as a street/strip car w/ not too much concern for long distance driving...
i would do a 4.10 gear, 3000 stallion converter from PI , and a good valvebody (at least a really good shift kit)
the B&M might sufice, but take a look and see if all the important oiling holes have all been enlarged. some just use stiffer springs.
also will need some cheater slicks (mickey thompson et street radials hook like a ***** and pretty tame even in the rain)
after that (or if cash allows) do the subframes and lca's.
you should be in good shape for the spray after that.
your old 1/8th mile of 9.50 will be crushed first day at the track on 4 more cylinders....thats like about a hi 14 pass.
the way you sit now, i'd expect to see a 14.20-14.50 NA or 13.10-13.30 on the spray.
if you do the gears and stall (w/tires) i would expect 13.60-13.90 (or a high 8 1/8th mile) NA
w / the juice .... ez 12's on 100 shot. maybe 12.50-12.80's ( hi 7 eighth mile)
anyways....welcome and have fun with it.....
