GO WITH 3.73...I have the Ford Racing 3.73 in mine, it was and is again now my DD...had them in there when I was driving back and for to college too. Mileage was 210 one way on the highway and it was perfectly fine, got 26 mpg with a 5 speed.

unless you've been trained and certified dont install gears yourself... the guy i had to mine is one of the best techs at the dealership and he has to redo mine...

oh yeah and as for the speedo problem, just go with the flow of traffic. that is what I do but I do know what speed I am going. Here is how mine runs

speedo reading/actual speed
-30/25
-45/37
-60/45
-80/65
-100/85
-as for the rest the other guy was too afraid to go any higher...

they make speedo correction gears for 3.55s, i thought someone made them for 3.73 and 4.10 as well? I know usually they just say use the 3.55 speedo gear for the lower gears as well, but i thought i remember seeing gears for 73 and 4.10 also?

I say don't worry about it, I don't because I don't really speed anymore, can't afford the damn tickets.

I've got 3.55's and love them. It's a helluva improvement over stock. I would not install the gears myself. It's worth having a shop do it right or they will grind and cause problems.

After you do gears, get a larger MAF and intake and you'll be good. That'll give you pretty decent power gains and won't cost too much.

Well both of you guys have made a pretty good case for either gear. Do you still need a speedo gear with the 3.55s?

yes, I believe it's the 23-tooth white gear for the manual and the 21-tooth white gear for the auto....I may have that backwards

check 50resto.com or some other place to be sure about which one to get.
