Getting the 5.0 ready for spring.
Hey guys.
I have a 86 capri that was rebadged into a 89 ford mustang. Has the 5.0 in it with about 50,000 miles. I don't know why it was rebadged, but I do like the wide body look. Granted I did pay $500 for the mutt but hell it has some nice unconfirmed mods and it rips. But I don't care so much about that.
What I need to know is what I should do to get it ready for spring. Im taking it back to school after spring break. Over the winter it was under a car cover in a part of the back yard that gets no snow due to drifting. I started it up every 2-3 weeks and let it run for an hour. I put 10$ of gas in it every month since september for it to run on when it sits. I took it out 2 weeks ago and it has a little bog when i first step on it. It will like cut out then go to the normal rpms. Ideas?
I plan on getting new tires, oil change and maybe a fuel filter. Where is the filter located and can I change it in my garage? I do have a mechanics pit.
The car is free of mouse nests too

Changing the oil is a good idea. In addition to starting it occasioally it would have been a good idea to go on a small cruise with it. Just to keep the rear and tran free and to circulate the fluids. A can of sta-bil before storage never hurts either. Is this EFI or carb'd?

EFI.
I did go on a small cruise a few weeks ago. But since it is lowered and I live up in northern maine, the snow + salt = me not wanting to drive.
Any ideas on the light stall out problem?

Sounds like maybe just some bad gas or water in the gas from condensation.
If you have a bit of water in bottom of the tank it might be getting a little sip of it at start
but then clears right up as you keep pumping more fuel thru.
Maybe drain and re-fill the tank and change fuel filter
dont forget the air-filter.
Also maybe do an injector cleaner treament
