Default Piston Notching!

Hi I was wondering if anyone here notched there pistons. I rented the piston notcher from isky cams, and was wondering if anyone had any tips or anything for me. Advice would be much appreciated.

Been there done that. Take it to a machine shop and get it done right. If you do insist on doing it yourself. Get a couple rolls of duct tape, a grease gun, a good drill and a shop vac.

Pack the grease around the cyliner wall to *try* and prevent flakes/chips from getting in the rings. Duct tape across the entire side of the engine to keep the flakes/chips from getting in other cylinders. Vacuum out the chips from the spark plug hole and then when you pull the head. Be patient, it's going to take a while.

Good luck!

Your welcome. Oil or grease the shaft of the cutter where it goes thru the valve guide too. Do you know how deep you need to go? Get a set of feeler guages and a dial indicator.

Here I found a link with pictures you can print and take with ya..
