question for buddy..
a buddy of mine has a 1991 mustang GT. It is a convertable, with auto transmition. The guy he purchased it from installed a vortech v-1 s/c, flowmaster, single chamber exhaust, 3.73 gears, k&n filter. just got new pirelle tires(275/35-17). anyways, we took it to the track the other night here in el paso tx. nearest i could figure our density altitude was around 5800. Ok, so he took maybe 4-5 runs. First run was the worst with a time of 15.7... i told him to let some aire out the tires, and he got the best run of the night which was a 15.2?? i was just wondeing if these numbers seem right. i know he was hoping to run a 13. we dont have the best track in the world so i was wondering if any of you could tell me about what it would run if he ran it at a well preped track, with good conditions. Also, if you could give me a number on what he might/should dyno.

RE: question for buddy..
i know for a fact he is S/C/ but i do know our track runs alittle slower than most.... usually about a half second slower than most other tracks. plus with the density altitude that high, i figure at sea level it would probably knock of about .3-.4 seconds.

RE: question for buddy..
well he does have the heaviest and slowest fox of them all... GT+vert+auto = bad combo, but with an S/C, gears and good tires he should still easily see 13s. i'd have to guess something is wrong with his set-up, regardless of the track.

RE: question for buddy..
i was thinking that something was wrong with it. although i havent been able to put my finger on it.... he thought it could be anything from crappy A/F ratio, to compression problems, to valve float. he isint in town much so he doesnt have to much time to work on her. I dont know exactly what he should be running, but 15.2 seemed extremely high to me. it runs well, up until recently when he was replacing the TB gasket and accidentaly left a peice of the old gasket on there, so when he started it up he got radiator fluid into the intake manifold. this was way after the horrible track times though. So he should be running 13s with this setup?

RE: question for buddy..
^^ I dont care if you have a 93 auto convertible. With a decent blower setup you will hit 13's. I could be wrong but I dont see how its possible to run high 14's with a supercharged 5.0.

i did think these times sucked, he raced a stock 1992 stang aod hatch. he only beat the stock stang by .4 seconds... i know that there is something wrong with his stang, just dont know what it could be.
