Default MSD Ignition

I was told by guy I met (he had a 5.0) that msd ignition is junk and that it is problematic. Now being this is what I have I was wondering if it is true. I have never heard anything bad about it untill this guy, so any truth to it.

I have seen a few boxes go bad, usually they were in the engine compartment. Otherwise no one I know has had problems with them. I tried the Mallory digital box this last time around. I don't know if it is any better or worse. It was cheaper though. It seems to work well and I dont have to change the RPM pills.

Like Quik said, you will hear that about every product and every company. I've also heard of cases where people have problems with them. But I know many many people w/ them and theirs are fine.

I have one that's 11 years old. Had it on a Ranger and when I got rid of that I put it on the stang.

the boxes only have problems when people mount them to close to the engine and fry the circuits

Watch out. There are fake MSD's being sold at E-bay and other places.
They are Chinese knock-offs and the wiring IS NOT the same.
BTW, see the topic about this in the 'off-topic' section.......
