smoothing engine bay-what a bitch
Doing a head swap and figured while everything is out of the way I would make the engine bay pretty. After spending most of the day grinding and welding I got about half of it done. Welding all them holes is no joke. Also had to weld metal where my header started eating my pass. strut tower, plus covering some of the big holes that I'm not using anymore. Heres where I'm at now and a pic of my pistons with over 100k-not bad.

How exactly did you do it? Is there a way to do it without a welder? I really wanna do this next month but I don't have a welder, unless my uncle will let me use his but I doubt it.

RE: smoothing engine bay-what a bitch
I did my engine bay for the first time about 7 yrs ago.
I first used a wire wheel on a drill to eliminate any of the old paint near any place I thought I'd be welding. I then cut metal plugs out of some 20 gauge metalI had just a little bit smaller then the hole itself that I wasgoing to weld up for any of the holes bigger than a dime; and welded all the holes up.
This was my first attempt at welding so I'm guessing I spent around 6 hrs ofwelding and filling holes, 30 mins grinding down those welds, and the probably another 2 or 3 hrs applying and sanding off the body filler. I then primmed the entire engine (probably spent another 2 hrs doing that ) and after that when it dried I sanded and put a finishing putty to cover any pin hole that still my show and then sanded that and then it was ready for me to paint.

Yes thats pretty much how I did mine without going into great detail.
I welded any hole larger than a dime.
It's not nearly as hard to do as you think, just a little time and effort IMO.
