Ok anytime i try and paint over the bondo that i put down it ends up looking like crap. Im using tape but then when i take the tape off i get a little ridge where the new paint starts thats really easy to see. I went out today and bought some wet sand paper so could someone give me a proper run down on everything that i need to do and in what order. Starting from after putting the bondo down plus when do i wetsand, and should i even using tape, i jsut need someway to make everything blend together, thanks everyone

if you are fixing say a fender you do the whole thing...now if you are doing the rear quarters no tape either...you wet sand and buff to blend..practice is all i can say.....painters arn't born hell i still suck

so you put on primer then paint then wet sand then buff?

no u clean place sand or scuff then prime..if bumper get some flex agent so it wont crack "spider"......after prime sand with 400 wash clean then paint and clear wet sand 1000-1500 grit then buff with a small amount of rubbing compound

ok so the wet sanding comes after the clearcoat i see makes sense thanks for the tips

You can also wetsand after you prime. The thing is when you think you are ready to paint, make sure you have no edges going from prime to you original paint. if you can feel an edge it has not been feathersanded enough & most likely you will be able to see & feel it after color & clear!

Also depending on what kind & how much clear you put on, you can start out with even 600 gt wet& finish with a 1000-1500gt wet. I use rubbing compound & finish with a light polishing compound with the buffer. The diff. between the two is amazing,especially if your looking for that really deep finish.

what are you taping? you cant bondo a dent, tape a section and paint, you have to do the whole panel, you can blend the paint, but you have to clear the whole panel
