Default 1984?

Hey everyone, I have a 1968 California Special Mustang( with a Cleveland) and I have been looking for a Fox body for awhile now. There is a 1984 5.0, 5 speed, with 84,000 miles for sale a few blocks from my house. It is mostly stock with a rollbar, short throw shifter, small Holley four barrel, and sadly, a nitrous kit. The paint is in very good shape and the interior is decent. Im going to test drive it again tomorrow and do a compression test on it. The guy wants $4500 but I think I could get him down a little more. Is 84 a good year? Is this a good price? Im wanting it to be a street/strip car because I already have a daily driver.Sorry this post was so long. Thanks for all your help

try and talk him down to 3k that would sound like a good price. the fact that it has no rust is what makes that car worth a lot more. i got my 84 for 2800 with 164k on it. the cars are great i still race mine and its my daily driver very good car i love it

you got more mods than me though kyle[8D][]

but I know what you mean, I know almost every inch of mine... when I started the teardown, it took me all of 25 minutes to drain the coolant and get the radiator, hoses and A/C condenser thing unbolted...

the condenser and the rest of the AC got thrown out... the condenser( the thing that looks like a mini rad... I think thats what its called) was all dented, plus had a hole in it anyway... and all the hardlines were rotted...I guess 223 thousand miles kills AC systems....[&:]

If you plan on putting some HP down, you'll end up swapping out the 7.5 for an 8.8 rear end. And the T-5 next, later years are stronger. FWIW, they come stock with a holley carb.

Its a holley/motorcraft hybrid POS. 85's had em too. Bad things about the 79-85 models, 7.5 rearend, it doesnt hold up to any hard driving for very long. The puny 9" front rotors that over heat VERY easily. Youll want to upgrade to the 87+ 11.86" brakes. 84 specific, the HO motor in there is NOT a roller block, the T-5 is not a world class t-5, the '84 originally came with faux dual exhaust. Theres a Y-pipe that goes in to 1 big cat, then Y's back out after it. Also, factory installed suroof are nice, but make sure that the drain holes arent plugged up. Blow them out with compressed air, otherwise the sunroof will rust from the inside out. Youll never see it coming until it starts to bubble. Also, 1 more thing the drivers seats, where the back hinges to the base have a tendency of breaking/losing bolts. And if it has the 3 spoke TRX rims on it, tires are gonna suck to get. The rim diameter is 390mm, something along the lines of 15.9". You can only get michelin TRX tires for it.
