tires for trx wheel pkg?
Hey everyone Richie from the s197 v8 forums...what's up?
Anyway back in the day when I was researching my five-liter purchase, I remember there was a big deal about finding metric-size tires for 82ish GTs with the TRX wheels...just curious, you guys having problems locating them, or have you switched off the TRXs, etc?
Thanks...p.s. five-ohs rule...

RE: tires for trx wheel pkg?
Michelin is the only company that still offers the metric wheels for the TRX package. You are better off just swapping out for a nice set of 16" wheels. the only real differance in the TRX was different spring rates and the gas shocks/struts. What made it work was the short side wall. The TRX tire size was 1979 - 1982 P190/65HR390. From 1983 - 84 It was P220/55VR390. It was last offered on Mustangs in 84 and Capri in 85
the 390mm rim is equal to 15.34"
A 205/55-16 would equal the 220/55-390 in over all diameter.
The closest over all would be a 225/50 -16 if you could find such a size, or a 225/55 - 15.
As for TRX spring rate here they are compared to what was offered for the same years
Front Handling/GT/heavy duty.
1979 = 395 lb/in constant rate, TRX 425 lb/in constant rate
1980 - 81 =370 lb/in constant rate, TRX 395 lb/in constant rate
1982 = 395 lb/in constant rate, TRX 410 lb/in constant rate
1983 - 84 including TRX = 410 lb/in constant rate.
Rear Handling/GT/heavy duty.
1979 - 84 = 160 lb/in constant rate, TRX 175 lb/in constant rate
I wish they would remake the TRX design in a 16 or 17 I really like the look of the wheels
That is all I have for this topic I'll shut up now LOL
