You need to degrease like you said then said with 320, anything heavier will show scrathes after paint, you need to prime any spots where bare metal is showing. Once all the sanded is done you need a wax and grease remover, different from degreaser. When you paint any wax rements will cause the paint to not stick and bubble
you mean "sand" ??

primer any spots where bare metal i s showing? you mean like where the paint rusted or shipped off and the metal is browish? i've got that on my k-member a little

If you're not going to fill all the holes why fill just the small hole?

I took it from your PM tome that there wasn't anything you couldn't weld up with a tig welder, and now your saying your just going to use a filler to fill the hole.

Once more have fun and good luck!

YesI meant sand not said-typo,I wasn't even drunk then. Anyways just get a primer rattle can and prime any spots that do not have paint left, it won't hurt to get it on the paint so don't be light on it. I would take some 600 grit and sand the primer after it dries before paint. Any rust spots need to be grinded until rust is gone, they also sell rust preventor from eastwood.

If you want to half *** it, use a wire brush.
