Getting a new clutch, suggestions?
Well its almost time for a new clutch. I'm tired of it acting good one day and missing the next. I have big plans for my car in the future, IE: Heads, supercharger, cam, etc. So I dont want to buy a cheap one to get me around until then. I'd rather put a really nice one in while I have the tranny out and all.
So my question to you all is, What clutch have you/ are you Personally running that your happy with. This is my daily driver so It cant be too stiff to push in, or else i'll just get pissed at it all of the time, hahaha. I guess my hp/trq goal is around 450/500 in the end.
I heard something about the SPEC stage 2+ clutch, yet ive never heard anything personal about them.
Post up your ideas on what you think I should get thats not to expensive but will do the job right.
Thanks

I run the spec stage 3 with the 6 puck design. I am very happy with it and win i do drive it, it has good streetability and it is not hard to push in. I have a buddy with a mild 5.0 and he has a king cobra clutch and that damn think is hard to push in.

its a fairly new type of clutch but im telling you for the hp and tq your eventually gonna run this is the clutch. im running one in my car. its called a RAM HD clutch made by ram clutch. the clutch kit, throwout, aligning tool, and billet fly wheel cost me $800 but its like pressing your foot into butter and im launching at 5000 rpm with no problems. i also got their adjustable qudrant and cable with firewall adjuster for $143 from summit. also got the kit from summit. the best ive run so far, and ive run king cobra and spec stage 2 in the past.

get a KC be fine with it...
my friend has a spec stage 2... its heavy as hell and on the high way in 3rd 4th and 5th if he punches it. it slips big time!
The KC will not be fine for your future plans. As far as the spec slipping, it is not adjusted correctly or your friend ignored the spec break-in period. Spec recommends breaking in clutch for 500 miles, This means no high rpm shifts or hard shifts period. Do this and the spec will be awesome. I admit i did not do the entire 500 miles with my stage 3(maybe 75 miles) and it does not slip any. If you look at my sig you will see i am making just a little alittle above stock power.

I'm very happy with my Spec and so is everyone else that I've heard talk about theirs. It's heavy but its not too heavy, doesnt chatter, engages smooth, and grabs insane. I talked to spec and they said if you have under 350hp you can start driving it hard around 350 miles.
