was on my way home when the battey light on the dash came on, the voltage gage was peaked passed 18 it went back to normal at idle then peaked when i applied gas, went to start the car the next day, and nothin, not a single light or sound just nothin? alternator, battery, both or somethin completely else?

Ground wires gone bad. Replace the battery cables.

+1 on the battery cables. I just did that (see sig) because my electrical was all screwed up like you're talking about. Got both factory cables from Ford for like $35 which seemed like a pretty good deal to me. You could go with generics, but why bother just to save a couple of bucks and leave yourself more sucestible to corrosion. I through in a new battery at the same time and she's been running like a champ ever since.

when you get on it now does it still spike? if you have this episode again i will assume its your voltage regulator. its job is to keep too much power getting to your battery. you need to be careful. you coule have a fire on your hands
